For six long years, Dick Turpin, England’s most infamous highwayman, lived and operated in the area, frequently staying at Ye Olde Leathern Bottle. His violent lifestyle, criminal dealings and constant danger have left a lingering imprint on the building. Many investigators believe the energy he carried still clings to the walls.
